Good morning, Bitachon of the Day ❤️
Hashem's decision to create the world was entirely His own. There was no external recipient, no “need,” and no force pressuring Him to bring the world into existence. As the Rambam, the Ramchal, and other scholars explain, Hashem’s act of creation was spontaneous and proactive, motivated solely by His desire to give.
This proactive approach is also central to Jewish spirituality. We don’t passively wait for spirituality to find us; we actively seek it out. We don’t let time simply wash over us; instead, we ride the waves of time with purpose.
On Friday evening, we greet Shabbat proactively through Kabbalat Shabbat. This practice originates from the great sages, who would go out into the fields to welcome Shabbat. They would even accept Shabbat early, embracing their active role in bringing it in, a tradition we continue to emulate today.
Hashem gave us the greatest gift of all, Shabbat, the day of rest. It is a time to rest our minds, nourish our souls, and spend quality time with family and friends.
We often hear of the miracles that occur on Shabbat when it is observed properly. For me, the miracle was how I felt during Shabbat dinners; it changed my life entirely. I am deeply grateful to Hashem for this gift. It was because of Shabbat that I decided to become religious.
When I arrived in Brooklyn, my now-family welcomed me as one of their own, adopting me like a daughter. Though I was broken inside, my soul was simultaneously awakened. During Shabbat candle lighting, my now-mother blessed me with tears, praying that I would become a good person, find a wonderful husband, and live a great life. How could she cry for someone she barely knew? She was, and still is, an angel sent by Hashem.
Surrounded by their children and grandchildren, I witnessed them all laughing together and singing Shabbat songs. It was an incredibly touching scene, one that I had never experienced before.
Hashem guided me to the most incredible family I have ever met. That was my Shabbat miracle.
They simulated Hashem to they were spontaneous and proactive, motivated solely by their desire to give.
And you could feel it. I felt better than in my own home.
May we all simulate Hashem by being spontaneous, proactive and motivated solely by the desire to give. Amen 🙏
Wishing you all a blessed and meaningful Shabbat.
Want to dedicate this Bitachon for Refua Shlema Shneur Zalman Ben Sara Leah Cheftziva. And who ever needs a Refua Shlema amen 🙏
