Truth is powerful, crucial, and one of the core values in Judaism. Without truth, we lack a higher purpose, a foundation to our existence.
For Judaism, truth, emet, is not just a virtue; it's one of the three fundamental principles, alongside justice and peace, upon which the world stands. As the Talmud says, "The signature of the Holy One, blessed be He, is truth."
Judaism teaches us the primary importance of keeping our word. But it does not lose sight of our human frailties and limitations and recognizes that often it is not moral failure that explains our lack of integrity, but simple human weakness, hopefully rare and surely forgiven by G-d.
But this progress is possible only because of humanity’s common values. And it is good only when we stick to those values. We value medicine only when we value life. Commerce benefits everyone only when people keep their word. Technology is beneficial only when we use it to build a kinder, fairer world with greater freedom and opportunities for all. And global communications is of value only when we want to share our ideas and collaborate with one another.
The Jewish sages taught: “Anyone who takes a single life, it is as though he has destroyed the entire world. And anyone who saves a single life, it is as though he has saved the entire world.”
Hashem guides us to lead lives of truth and encourages us to love and respect one another, fostering unity among us. Despite numerous attempts throughout history to eradicate us, with only a small fraction of the global population, we, with Hashem's help and the Torah as our foundation, remain resilient and among the most influential people.
Has Jew and children of Hashem we are here to support and help each other.
We are here to Stand together and fight against evil.
Today, we're witnessing a remarkable unity as people come together to support our community. Some offer donations, others prayers, and some lend physical presence or voice. Together, we're demonstrating our true essence to the world. With Hashem's guidance, we will survive as we always have and even stronger Amen 🙏
